Manchester United
She is sure that Man City will not make the same mistake that Manchester United did.
If Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City at the end of the season with Txiki Begiristain, the manager is sure that the team will not fall apart.
After 13 years at the Etihad, Begiristain has said that he will be leaving his job as sports director in the summer. His replacement, Hugo Viana, has been named. He will start doing some work in February and then take over full-time after the end of his season with Sporting in the Portuguese league.
One of the most important people in City’s success over the last 15 years, Begiristain, will be hard to follow. The Blues are still waiting to hear if Guardiola will leave. There is no new contract for the manager after this season; he has not yet chosen if he will sign another one.
Other teams in the Premier League can’t wait for Guardiola to retire, since he led City to four straight wins and six of the last seven overall. Under Sir Alex Ferguson, United was the best team in the league for the first 20 years, but they haven’t even come close to winning a title since he left in 2013.
Guardiola wouldn’t say what went wrong at United, but he still says that there are enough things in place at Manchester City to make sure they don’t fall apart when he leaves, even if it’s at the same time as Begiristain.
Something went wrong, but it’s not going to happen. He said, “I know how it works.” “It’s a bad sign for the club if everything falls apart after just one person leaves.”
If they do make a mistake, they will figure it out as they go along. The mistakes will be fixed right away, that’s for sure. The guys are sure of what they need to do.
“When things are going badly, they will fix them right away. They’ll pay attention, stay calm, and do what they need to do. Of course, I have no worries about that. With my case and Txiki for 12 years, it makes sense that it looks like we can’t leave. But we can still move on. Things go on with life. The earth keeps going around.”
