Rumors say that Rasmus Hojlund has talked to star Ruben Amorim, who he describes as a “complete midfielder.”
Rafa Benítez of Sporting Lisbon told Rasmus Hojlund about the new boss of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, and Hojlund is excited to start working for Amorim.
Amorim oversaw an exciting win over Manchester City in his last home game as manager of Sporting on Tuesday night. On November 11, he will officially take over at Old Trafford.
United has been having a tough time getting goals. Only Crystal Palace and Southampton have scored fewer goals in the Premier League this season than United under Erik ten Hag.
Amorim will try to change that, and Hojlund is eager to keep his spot as the center of the attack under the Portuguese coach. He has already talked about his new boss with Hjulmand, who is also a Danish player.
“I’m really excited about this.” Really good thoughts. “They play the game the way I saw them,” Hojlund told Tipsbladet.
“I talked to Morten Hjulmand about it, and he’s also very happy with the coach. I can’t wait for him to come here.”
“From what I’ve seen so far, it looks like they have three defenders, which is different from what I’m used to.” So, it will be interesting to see how he puts his ideas into action, and I’m excited to work with a young teacher who is driven.
“That seems like a good idea.” It’s clear to him what current football is all about. I don’t always think that his youth is a bad thing. “In fact, it might even bring something extra,” he said, going on to talk more about the chat he had with the Sporting midfielder during the last international break.
“We talk about how things are going all the time at the club or with the national team.” The way Morten Hjulmand talked there was a little different from what he was used to. He only talked about great ideas.
Hojlund’s partner from Denmark, Hjulmand, was very important to Amorim’s team last season. He joined the club in the summer after Manuel Ugarte left to join Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Amorim’s comments from last year show that he liked Hjulmand more than Ugarte in the middle of the field, calling the Dane a more “complete” midfielder.
Early this year, Amorim said, “I love Palhinha and Ugarte, but I would say that Hjulmand is the most complete player in his position.”
Amorim was honest about some of Ugarte’s flaws when he talked about the differences between him and Hjulmand in 2023, especially when it came to his ability to “read the game.”
Amorim said in September 2023, “They are completely different traits.” “Ugarte can find players from all sides of the field very quickly, but Morten doesn’t have that skill.” Unlike Ugarte, Morten can read the game, guess what the other player will do, and be in the right place at the right time.
