Ruben Amorim was given the first terrible Manchester United situation right away.

In December, Manchester United will play seven games before Christmas. This will be Ruben Amorim’s first real test as boss.

Most of us would like some time to get used to a new job, especially one as demanding as Ruben Amorim’s at Manchester United.

Sadly for the Portuguese head coach, he won’t be able to do this because the Premier League and EFL have terrible schedules. After the date for their Carabao Cup quarterfinal was announced, United only had one day to get ready for their Premier League game at home against AFC Bournemouth.

On their way to the final eight, the Reds will play Tottenham Hotspur. They beat Barnsley and Leicester City on their way there. Manchester United announced on Wednesday that they will play Tottenham on Thursday, December 19 at 8 p.m.

Sky Sports Main Event will show the game live. The other three games—Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace, Newcastle United vs. Brentford, and Southampton vs. Liverpool—will happen the day before, on Wednesday, December 18. This is bad news for United because they have to play Spurs on Thursday and Bournemouth on Saturday.

Given how Thursday games are usually run, giving the players such little time to get ready would be a problem even when things were going smoothly. The Reds usually play twice in the Europa League, on Thursday and Sunday, so players have more time to heal.

The two games in three days will come after five games in December, including a tough match against Manchester City. It has not been confirmed yet if the Bournemouth game will be changed to December 22.

But it looks like United will not be getting this break this time. While FIFA is being sued for expanding the Club World Cup and UEFA is being criticized for putting more stress on players in their new European competitions, it looks like the people who make decisions in our own country aren’t paying any more attention to the problems with player safety either.

It looks like a revolt is coming up, but that won’t help Amorim. He will quickly learn about the stresses and pressures of English sports.

MEN Sport has put together the full schedule for December listed below:

December 1: Hull H – Premier League

December 4: Premier League game for Arsenal A

December 7 – Nottingham Forest H – Premier League

Viktoria Plzen A – Europa League on December 12

December 15: Premier League game for Manchester City A

December 19: Carabao Cup for Tottenham Hotspur A

December 21 – Birmingham City H – Premier League

Wolverhampton Wanderers A played in the Premier League on December 26.

30. December: Newcastle United lost in the Premier League.
