REVEALED: Premier League side Newcastle present offer to sign Guardiola’s ace winger
According to reports, Newcastle United has submitted a proposal to acquire Barcelona winger Ferran Torres.
Eddie Howe will be subject to significant pressure to perform in the upcoming season following his failure to qualify for the European Championship in 2023/24. The Magpies’ Champions League matches against Dortmund, AC Milan, and PSG will be etched in the minds of fans for a long time, but they will not embrace the fact that they were a one-time occurrence.
However, Newcastle will likely need to invest in critical areas to remain competitive in the Premier League, particularly given that they were eight points behind the top four in the race.
Newcastle have submitted an offer of €15m plus €5m in add-ons for Torres, according to Spanish outlet Jijantes. This offer represents a significant decrease from the alleged £46.7m that Barcelona paid Manchester City up-front for Torres’ services in 2021.
Luke Edwards, a journalist for the Daily Telegraph, has refuted the rumor, asserting on X that there is “no truth in the claims Newcastle have made a bid for Ferran Torres.”
Nevertheless, Newcastle supporters will be hopeful that Edwards is inaccurate.
For beginnings, Torres achieved a commendable 10 goals and three assists in 37 combined La Liga and Champions League appearances last season, despite only 15 of those appearances being from the start.
The 24-year-old also has an exceptional national team record, having scored 19 goals and four assists in 41 senior matches for Spain. This includes six goals in the World Cup, European Championships, and Uefa Nations League finals combined.
Additionally, it is important to recall that Pep Guardiola once described this athlete as “exceptional” during their tenure at Manchester City.
