REVEALED: Portuguese side Sporting CP eyeing a move for £11m Man City player and he is willing to leave the club

Sporting CP is reportedly interested in acquiring a Manchester City player via a summer transfer.

This season, the Portuguese club finished with 90 points, which was 10 more than Benfica in second place and 18 more than Porto in third place, and was crowned league champions.

Ahead of the forthcoming summer transfer window, which is expected to commence in the coming weeks, some confidential information has surfaced concerning a specific City player on whom Sporting have their attention.

Sporting are reportedly considering a summer transfer for Sergio Gomez, who, according to a recent report by O Jogo, would embrace a move away from City given his lack of consistent playing time.

Additionally, the report states that the Portuguese club will attempt to reach a deal with City identical to the one they executed in 2020 for full-back Pedro Porro, in which they obtained the player on loan with the option to purchase.

The Spaniard, who joined the Manchester club for £11 million during the summer transfer window of 2022, has appeared in 38 matches across all competitions.

Given that he has only started 14 of those games, it is not difficult to comprehend the speculation that the 23-year-old might be inclined to depart City in pursuit of increased playing time.

Indeed, during this campaign, the full-back appeared in only six substitute appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham, West Ham United, Burnley, Aston Villa, and Luton Town, totaling 48 minutes of Premier League action.

Ahead of the forthcoming summer transfer window, should Gomez request to depart from City and the club determine that they can function adequately without his presence, a transaction involving the defender joining Sporting could be mutually beneficial.
