Report: Xavi wants to take over at Manchester United and wants to sign a €100 million Barcelona forward.
Erik ten Hag is leaving his job as manager of Manchester United, and Xavi Hernandez, who used to handle Barcelona, has become a strong candidate to take over.
The legendary Barcelona manager hasn’t had a job since being fired by the Catalans at the end of the season. He could be in the running to replace Ten Hag at Old Trafford, who is under fire.
There is one important thing, though, that Xavi seems to want in order to take over at Manchester United.
Xavi would like Raphinha
According to a story from Fichajes, Xavi has made Manchester United aware of one very important demand: they must sign Raphinha, who is the captain of Barcelona.
If he takes on the task at Old Trafford, the Spanish manager sees the Barcelona winger as a key player who will help the Red Devils’ offensive options.
Raphinha has had a great start to the season at Barcelona under Hansi Flick, so Xavi has good reason to be interested in him.
The 27-year-old has become one of the most important players for the Catalan club, scoring six goals and setting up eight others in just twelve games.
Reports from earlier this week said that Manchester City is also interested in the Brazilian player. Meanwhile, Xavi wants the fourth captain spot at Barcelona if he gets the job to replace Ten Hag at Manchester United.
The story says that Barcelona would think about selling Raphinha, but only if someone made an offer close to €100 million. This is a very high price for anyone who wants to buy him.
But that claim might not be true at all, since Raphinha has become an important part of the Barcelona team since Hansi Flick took over.
As one of the best players and a valued assistant to the German manager, Barça probably won’t think about selling him unless someone makes them a huge offer.
The friendship between Xavi and Raphinha was also not always great while they were at Barcelona. Then there is a very small chance that anything will happen.
