Quality displays by the former Manchester United duo continue to give Ten Hag reasons to lament his sale.

Since being traded in the summer, former Manchester United players Teden Mengi and Anthony Elanga have been demonstrating their value.

During the summer, Manchester United sold a significant number of academy graduates as manager Erik ten Hag restructured the roster to make room for junior players.

This resulted in the sale of two players, Anthony Elanga and Teden Mengi, who both joined other Premier League clubs in pursuit of playing time at the highest level.

Luton Town acquired Mengi in August, a decision that has since been called into question by Rio Ferdinand, who praised the defender’s potential and stated that only injuries prevented him from reaching his full potential.

In the interim, Elanga was transferred to Nottingham Forest, and in the Premier League this season, he has outperformed each of United’s own attackers.

However, both made headlines on Saturday afternoon when they each sent Ten Hag a message that, we assume, will cause the Dutchman to reconsider his decision to sell both.

Both athletes participated in the games on Saturday throughout the numerous 3 pm kick-offs. In contrast to Elanga, Mengi encountered Brighton.

Mengi scored the opening goal for Luton Town with an outstanding strike at Kenilworth Road, which was instrumental in the club’s victory over Crystal Palace. Mengi, who accumulated a 7.7 rating on SofaScore, contributed 15 times defensively.

In the midst of United’s current defensive turmoil and injury problems, Mengi appears to be a player we could have benefited from having on staff to assist in such situations.

Elanga was unsuccessful for Forest; nevertheless, he delivered an outstanding performance on an individual level. He contributed to three goals and three assists thus far this season and generated one significant opportunity with his goal.

Although it brings joy to our hearts to see young players succeeding elsewhere, we cannot help but wish that it were at our club.

United must learn that selling prospects for such a low price, only to be disappointed with their performance in the league months later, is a little humiliating.

One straightforward method to prevent this is to utilize the loan market to provide youthful individuals with the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities elsewhere while retaining them.

While it may appear self-centered from the club’s perspective, it is a practice adopted by all the leading and most successful teams. We hope that the new hierarchy, which Sir Jim Ratcliffe leads, will share our philosophy that no player should be sold cheaply until it is certain they are no longer valuable.
