Pole position: FSG and Liverpool frontrunners to sign “monster” in January
Prior to the third international break of the season, Liverpool capped off an outstanding start by resuming their ruthless best against Brentford in the Premier League, following recent stutterings against Luton Town and Toulouse.
Currently in second place and trailing league leaders Manchester City by a single point, Jurgen Klopp’s squad faces the treble tremor victors from the previous season in their first game back from the international break at The Etihad.
However, if Liverpool are to mount a genuine title challenge, Klopp may need to complete his midfield reshuffle during the January transfer window. Reports indicate that FSG may be on the verge of accomplishing precisely that.
Liverpool’s summer reshuffle has been relatively smooth, notwithstanding the number of personnel adjustments that have been implemented. Individuals who have recently been added to the squad have immediately integrated and performed admirably in positions where Jordan Henderson and Fabinho started to struggle. Dominik Szoboszlai has once again provided the Reds with mobility in the middle of the park, which is an especially remarkable performance. In the interim, Ryan Gravenberch has demonstrated potential to become yet another bargain for Klopp as he recovers from his loss to Bayern Munich.
Nonetheless, one persistent challenge pertains to the defensive midfield position. Thus far, Alexis MacAllister has been compelled to play the role and, as a result, has been occasionally exposed. However, reports indicate that FSG may be able to resolve this issue by January. Sport reports that Liverpool have assumed the lead in the competition to acquire Andre Trindade. The Fluminense player, who is reportedly valued at €35 million (£30 million), has also piqued the interest of Barcelona and the Premier League heavyweights.
Prior Liverpool transfer rumors indicated that the Reds had withdrawn from the race to acquire Andre, but in a significant development preceding January, it now appears that they are in the lead in the pursuit of his signature. When the winter window becomes available, the Brazilian becomes an individual to closely monitor.
An assessment of Klopp’s most recent Liverpool lineup suggests that the sole player absent is a defensive midfielder with the ability to perform Fabinho’s duties to the fullest extent. It became immediately apparent that Mac Allister is not the appropriate man for that position and would be more effective in a more advanced capacity, comparable to his time with Brighton & Hove Albion. However, Andre might be the player in question for the Reds. Comparing Andre’s statistics to those of Mac Allister unequivocally demonstrates this.
It is unsurprising that the Fluminense player has garnered considerable acclaim over the past year or so, including the following from ESPN’s Fernando Campos: “He is confidently pressing and playing with the assurance of an individual who is cognizant of his uniqueness.” Break the stillness and motivate the team to function. André Trindade is an absolute beast of a player and the finest defensive midfielder in the nation.
