Pep Guardiola affirms his stance in the event that Manchester City are penalized for purported FFP violations.
Pep Guardiola has disclosed his stance in the event that Manchester City is penalized for purportedly violating Financial Fair Play regulations.
It was officially announced last week that Everton had suffered a 10-point deduction in the Premier League due to a violation of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
The Premier League issued the following statement: “Everton FC has been subjected to an immediate deduction of 10 points by an independent commission due to their violation of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) of the Premier League.
Earlier this year, the Premier League lodged a formal complaint against the club and subsequently referred the matter to an independent commission.
Following the confirmation of Everton’s sanction, focus has shifted to the potential punishment that City may receive, following reports that the club is being investigated for allegedly violating FFP regulations over nine seasons.
Guardiola was queried by the media prior to this weekend’s Premier League match between City and Liverpool regarding his future in the event that the reigning champions are found culpable. The video is available to view below.
He stated, “If we are in League One, I will not worry about my future; in fact, I am more inclined to remain.”
Regarding Everton’s allegations, he stated, “I will remain silent regarding Everton as I am not privy to the actual circumstances that transpired. These are two entirely dissimilar circumstances. Although there are those who wonder why City doesn’t attend the Conference, we should hold off on that thought.
“Obviously, we ought to be relegated after reading it, but no one is aware of this. Everyone who says it is unaware of precisely what transpired. It is not entirely read by me. However, recall what I said a month ago: we will be punished if we commit an offense. As for the Everton case, I will be present following the resolution of the forthcoming events; however, it is an entirely distinct matter. This is the reason why a comparison is not possible.”
