The Oklahoma Sooners have been named the best athletic program in the country in 2025, cementing their dominance across multiple sports. This historic achievement makes OU the only school to win an NCAA Championship, reach the WCWS Top 4, finish as SEC Runner-up, produce a 5-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, and claim 11 Big 12 Tournament Championships in the same year.
The Sooners’ excellence was on full display as their teams delivered unforgettable performances. Softball continued its dynasty, while football and other programs elevated their game in the competitive SEC landscape. The combination of championship success and consistent high-level play set Oklahoma apart from every other program in the nation.
Athletic director Joe Castiglione praised the achievement, saying,
“This is a testament to the relentless dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and fans. Winning at the highest level across multiple sports is incredibly rare, and we’re proud to represent Oklahoma with such distinction.”
Fans celebrated the milestone with the hashtag #BoomerSooner, flooding social media with pride. With a legacy of success and a bright future ahead, the Sooners have solidified their place as the standard for collegiate athletics. This year’s accomplishments will be remembered as one of the greatest in school history.
