Oklahoma Softball Earns ATEC/NFCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year Recognition

NORMAN — The Oklahoma Softball coaching staff was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year on June 6. This marks the 17th time in program history the staff has received the honor, all under head coach Patty Gasso’s leadership.

In 2025, the Sooners finished 52-9, securing their ninth consecutive Women’s College World Series (WCWS) appearance and the 18th in program history. As the No. 2 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, OU advanced to the WCWS Semifinals for the ninth straight year.

In their debut season in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the Sooners posted a 17-7 conference record, claiming the SEC Regular Season Championship and a share of the SEC Tournament title.

Four Sooners earned NFCA All-America honors: Kasidi Pickering (First Team), Ella Parker (First Team), Sam Landry (Second Team), and Gabbie Garcia (Third Team). Ailana Agbayani won the Rawlings Gold Glove at second base and was joined by Garcia and Landry on the SEC All-Defensive Team.

OU garnered nine SEC postseason awards, including two superlatives: Gasso as SEC Coach of the Year and Landry as SEC Newcomer of the Year. Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, Pickering, and Landry were First Team All-SEC selections.

The Sooners’ offense ranked second nationally in home runs (121), becoming the first NCAA program to hit 100+ homers in six straight seasons. The pitching staff posted a 2.66 ERA and 1.14 WHIP, while the defense fielded at a .978 clip (ninth nationally).
