The newest numbers for the College Football Playoff have been released, which makes it clear what teams need to do to make one last push for the playoffs.

The No. 13 Alabama Crimson Tide (8-3) lost 24-3 to the Oklahoma Sooners (6-5) on Saturday, which made their chances of making the playoffs much less likely. They fell six spots in the rankings because of this loss, making them the second team no longer in the running for the playoffs since five spots are given to the highest-ranked conference winners.

This is the second time this season that Alabama has lost to an unranked team. The first time was 40-35 to the Vanderbilt Commodores (6-5). There is still a small chance that the Crimson Tide will make the playoffs, even with these losses. Three of the top nine teams in the polls lost last week. If that happens again this week, Alabama could be back in the running for the playoffs.

This week on the “Paul Finebaum Show,” SEC Network expert Paul Finebaum said he didn’t trust the Crimson Tide. He said that winning the upcoming Iron Bowl against Auburn wouldn’t make things much better because he thinks their season is pretty much over.

“Beating an Auburn team is not going to really improve the mood very much,” said Finebaum. “A loss would be terrible.” However, Alabama’s season seems to be coming to an end.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, Alabama is the fourth best team in the country and has a 4.5% chance of making the College Football Playoff. These guys need to beat Auburn on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC in order to keep their dreams alive.
