News about Yoro, Mainoo, and Mount’s injuries for Manchester United and when they will be back for PAOK
The next game for Manchester United is an Interim Manager game at home against Paok in the Europa League. Ruud van Nistelrooy will be trying to keep his perfect record as interim manager. With three draws under Erik ten Hag’s watch, the Reds have yet to win a game in Europe this season.
United got a point against Chelsea over the weekend in a pretty dull game at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford had the best chance of the first half, but his shot hit the post. After the break, Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty spot, but Moises Caicedo scored a stunning goal minutes later to tie the game.
United has been pretty lucky with injuries lately, as there haven’t been any big new worries. A lot of good news is expected to keep coming during the November international break, as several stars, including Leny Yoro, are planning to come back at the same time that Ruben Amorim starts as the club’s new head coach.
So, MEN Sport has put together the most recent injury news for United and possible return dates before their next game on Thursday night.
Yoro Lenny
Damage: broken metatarsal
Last month, United gave a report on Yoro and said that he had started training outside at Carrington. Since he broke his metatarsal in the first game of United’s pre-season tour of the US in July, he hasn’t been able to play.
After surgery at the beginning of August, United thought he would be out for about three months. As early as September, he was able to walk without crutches. Since then, he has been working hard at the Carrington gym. His first game for the club will not happen soon and will not be rushed.
After the fact, the Evening Standard said that Yoro is “expected” to join United again after the next international break.
Possible return date: November 24 (Ipswich Town A).
Injury to Kobbie Mainoo: Muscle
In the last few minutes of United’s 0-0 draw with Villa, Mainoo hurt a muscle and hasn’t played in the last four games. Ten Hag told the press at his pre-Brentford conference two weeks ago that he thought the school graduate would be unavailable for “a couple of weeks.”
Despite not playing in the Chelsea game, the player might be able to come back before the November international break.
Thursday, November 9 (Leicester H) is a possible return date.
Injury to Mason Mount: Knock
Mount hasn’t played in six games since September 29, when he left a game against Tottenham Hotspur with a head injury that needed stitches.
Ten Hag said before last week’s 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce, “I think we’ll have to wait a little longer for Mount.” I believe he will returns soon. Mount wasn’t able to play against his old team, Chelsea, over the weekend, but he has since returned to United training.
Possible return date: November 24 (Ipswich Town A).
Harry Maguire hurt his foot.
Since he was taken off against Aston Villa before the international break, Maguire has not played. He had to be helped off the pitch by members of the United medical team, and Matthijs de Ligt came on just before halftime to replace him.
Maguire wrote on social media that he would be out for “a few weeks.” A few days later, Erik ten Hag, the former manager of Manchester United, confirmed this. He has been out for five games in a row.
Potential date of return: November.
Luke Shaw Has a Calf Injury
Now it’s been eight months since Shaw last played for United. He was supposed to come back after the first international break of the season in September and then again after the second break last month, but he has still not returned.
Following last weekend’s loss to West Ham United, Ten Hag revealed that Shaw had an issue and that his recovery is not going as planned for United.
“That’s the truth, the process is not going as we planned,” he said. Whatever you want to call the loss, we want to be very careful with it too. If he starts to drop again, we need to be very careful.
“We know about his past, and we need to get this right if we want him to be available. He will have a big effect on how well we do and how high we go.” We can’t let him play in a few games and then quit again. We’ll be very careful, then.”
Possibly unknown return date.
Injury to Christian Eriksen: Not known
Eriksen wasn’t in the team that played Leicester because he was in the directors’ box watching the game. It is known that he had to drop out of the team because of an illness, but the specifics of the reason have been kept secret so far.
He said, “We’re still hoping and working hard to get Christian on the team.” “He’s working hard to make it in the last moment.”
Possible date of return: Not known.
Antony hurt his ankle and sprained it.
Antony was taken off on a bed near the end of United’s scoreless draw with Fenerbahce, only 16 minutes after coming off the bench. He had to use crutches and wear a safety boot on his left leg to leave the stadium.
Later, it came out that he had sprained his ankle, so he didn’t play in the recent games against West Ham, Leicester, and Chelsea.
Possible date of return: Not known.
Tyrell Malacia hurt his knee.
In the past few weeks, Malacia has been working with the first team, which is a good sign that he might be able to come back soon. On the last day of the 2022–23 Premier League season, he played his last game for United.
Ten Hag said in August that the defender was making progress, which meant he might be back by October: “He is not that far [off], but he is now in a progress situation.” Quite quickly, he can start working with the team again and then play for the team in games. I believe I could be available again in two months.
October is over, but it’s still not clear when the left back will be ready to play.
Possible date of return: Not known.
Toby Collyer’s injury is unknown.
Five days ago, Ten Hag explained why Jack Fletcher was on the team for the win over Brentford by saying that Collyer was another player who had been added to the injury list. Despite this, he didn’t say anything specific about the type or severity of his injury.
His absence is now known to last “roughly a month,” according to the Manchester Evening News.
December could be a good time to come back.
