Newcastle United
Newcastle United is currently scouting the next Erling Haaland, the £21m player who has scored more goals than the Man City striker
Sindre Walle Egeli, an 18-year-old Norway international, is reportedly being pursued by Newcastle United from FC Nordsjaelland.
Earlier this month, the adolescent forward made his senior international debut for Norway and has been compared to his fellow countryman, Erling Haaland. Both players are left-footed, robust attackers; however, Egeli is more frequently deployed as an inverted winger than as a traditional striker.
The 18-year-old broke Haaland’s record of 30 goals in 46 matches by scoring 32 goals in 35 games for Norway at the junior level. Last summer, Egeli transferred from the Norwegian club Sandefjord to Nordsjaelland.
He has since been promoted to the Nordsjaelland first team and has scored four goals in his first nine league appearances this season, following his 14 goals in 12 matches in the Danish Under-19s League last season.
Newcastle are monitoring the forward’s progress, as reported by Mail Online. However, they would need to pay a fee of approximately £21 million to persuade Nordsjaelland to accept. Newcastle will be seeking to enhance their offensive capabilities and allocate resources to young players with significant potential in order to mitigate the constraints imposed by the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
Newcastle scouted Denmark last summer and acquired Yankuba Minteh from Odense for approximately £6 million. The adolescent was subsequently sold to Brighton & Hove Albion for £33 million earlier this year, resulting in a substantial profit. The Magpies were able to avoid a points deduction for the 2024-25 campaign as a result of the sale and the £35 million agreement with Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson, which enabled them to comply with PSR.
Will Osula, a 21-year-old Danish forward, was acquired by Newcastle from Sheffield United in a transaction worth £15 million during the summer. Callum Wilson is presently injured and out of contract at the end of the season, while Alexander Isak, who signed a club record, remains the club’s first-choice striker.
