Mohamed Salah scores and double the lead for the REDs: Manchester United vs Liverpool – FA CUP quarter final (watch)
This afternoon at Old Trafford, Manchester United will play Liverpool in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. The team will be trying to keep their title dreams alive.
This weekend, United will try to build on their 2-0 win over Everton last weekend. In the last round, United beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 to make it to the last eight. To get back to winning ways, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford both scored from outside the box.
With the win over Everton, United is now only eight points behind the top four teams, which means they still have a chance to make it to the Champions League next season. Their chances got even better yesterday evening when Tottenham Hotspur lost 3-0 at Fulham, which hurts their chances even more.
United’s main goal this season is still to finish in the top four, but they are now focusing on the FA Cup and keeping their dreams of winning some hardware alive. Last year, United made it to the competition’s final but lost to Manchester City 2-1.
The score at halftime was MUN 1-2 LFC, and United were behind. This is true even though United led early and played well for the most part. They’ll be very angry.
Liverpool is now ahead thanks to goals from Salah and Mac Allister, canceling out McTominay’s first goal.
