Mark Pope says the game between Kentucky and Gonzaga will feel like the Final Four.
Head coach Mark Pope says it will feel like the Final Four when the Kentucky Wildcats play the #7 Gonzaga Bulldogs in Seattle, Washington. A trip across the country is planned. The Wildcats are getting ready for that level of challenge and expect it and are ready for it.
Each team has one loss on the season to a team that isn’t ranked. On Tuesday, Kentucky lost to Clemson. Over the Thanksgiving break, Gonzaga lost to West Virginia in the Battle for Atlantis. Each team has also won one of the top ten games. To start the season, Kentucky beat #6 Duke and #8 Baylor.
Every year, each team is one of the best in the land. People always talk about Kentucky and Gonzaga as two of the best college basketball teams. It’s only been three games between them, but the Bulldogs are ahead 2-1.
#4 Kentucky is playing #7 Gonzaga in a top 10 battle.
“”The Gonzaga game will feel like the Final Four. That is the way it should be.””
This could very well be a Final Four matchup based on the level of play and competition, but both teams have a lot to show to get there. For them to work well together, they will each need to have a good run.
With a score of 95.9, ESPN says it’s one of the best games of the early season. This is almost as good as a meeting between the best teams in the country. ESPN says the game will go back and forth and the Zags will win in the end. Mark Pope and his team won’t want to lose back-to-back, though, so don’t write them off.
The game will air on ESPN2 on Saturday, December 7 at 10 p.m.
