Manchester United are reportedly preparing to issue a public statement in which they denounce the rumors that INEOS intends to transfer the Ligue 1 club Nice in the near future. The group of Sir Jim Ratcliffe would have been concerned when both of their teams qualified for the Europa League next season, but their concerns were resolved by an impending rule change..

Ratcliffe acquired a minority 27.7% stake in United earlier this year, following his acquisition of Nice in 2019. Nevertheless, the simultaneous ownership of two organizations results in substantial complications with respect to European competitions.

Brighton and Aston Villa were previously compelled to reduce their stakes in Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Vitoria de Guimaraes due to UEFA regulations. However, United and Nice have been granted permission by the regulating body to participate in the Europa League next season.

Ratcliffe was rumored to be considering selling his shares in Nice and concentrating solely on United, as the regulations will only be implemented for the upcoming season, according to reports.

However, the French local newspaper Nice Matin asserts that INEOS has privately denied the rumor that they intend to locate a buyer for the French club. It is also rumored that United’s minority proprietors are preparing to issue a public statement in the near future to explicitly state their stance.

The recent appointments of Franck Haise and Florian Maurice as head coach and sporting director of Nice, respectively, are also believed to have further solidified INEOS’ dedication to the club. The duo is highly regarded in Ligue 1.

Express Sport has reached out to INEOS for a response.

Jean-Pierre Rivere, the administrator of the club, recently denied the rumor that Nice were for sale. “The owner’s objective is not to sell the club,” he stated to L’Equipe.

“I would inform you voluntarily if the club were for sale, as it is neither illegal nor dishonorable to offer a club for sale.” However, I will reiterate that this is not the case. However, there would be no issue if it were to be put up for sale at some point, as the club is both thriving and well-organized.

United and Nice both qualified for the Europa League. If a resolution was not reached, the Red Devils confronted the possibility of being relegated to the Europa Conference League, as they finished lower in the Premier League last season than the fifth-placed Ligue 1 side, Nice.

An independent commission was scheduled to render a decision on the matter prior to the competition’s commencement next month. However, the two clubs have received a substantial advantage as a result of a relaxation of the regulations, a situation that INEOS had always anticipated would be resolved.

“We are in direct communication with UEFA and are cognizant of the positions of both clubs,” INEOS stated last month. “We are confident we have a route forward for next season in Europe.”
