Manchester United to sack Erik ten Hag latest update after victory in the FA CUP quarter final vs Liverpool
Swedish boss Erik ten Hag is about to win another FA Cup, but that won’t keep him from being fired.
Erik ten Hag will not be saved from being fired by Manchester United, even though they might win the FA Cup soon.
In a nail-biting quarterfinal match over the weekend, the Red Devils beat their bitter foes Liverpool 4–3. Ten Hag was asked if the game could be a turning point. Manchester United has had a rough season, but they want to end on a high note by making it to the Champions League.
Getting the prize may not help the Dutchman keep his job after the season ends, though, since a new owner named Sir Jim Ratcliffe is taking over.
Senior writer Valentijn Driessen from the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf told a podcast in the Netherlands (via SoccerNews) that Ten Hag will not be spared this season, not even if they win the title.
“Of course it’s still the end,” Driessen said, implying that Ten Hag is nearing the end of his term. “Not even if he wins the FA Cup.” Louis van Gaal also quit after winning the FA Cup, but his path wasn’t as difficult.
With nine points less than fourth-placed Aston Villa, United is in sixth place. And they were blown out of the Champions League in the group stage, coming in fourth place.
There are 10 games left in the Premier League, and United has lost 11. They also play Coventry City at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals.
