Carrington personnel have been impressed by Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir in preparation for a significant opportunity in January.

A substantial overhaul of United’s goalkeeping options occurred this summer, with the acquisition of Andre Onana being the most significant change.

The departures of David De Gea, Dean Henderson, Nathan Bishop, and Matej Kovar caused a significant reorganization in the United goalkeeping staff.

On transfer deadline day, United also swooped to acquire Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce for a bargain £4.3 million. Bayindir was a Turkish goalkeeper.

We have yet to see Bayindir in action for United; Erik ten Hag never substituted Bayindir for Onana, not even in Carabao Cup matches.

Some United supporters are somewhat concerned about this in light of Onana’s impending departure.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper is positioned to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations, which takes place between January 13 and February 11.

United may be without Onana for a number of weeks, during which time Bayindir will be required to fill in.

Although the 25-year-old will need to improve rapidly, it appears that United personnel have been impressed with his progress.

According to ESPN, Bayindir is performing admirably in Carrington’s training, and the staff is satisfied with his progress thus far.

This indicates that United are apparently content with Bayindir and continue to have faith in him to replace Onana.

Bayindir has since departed from Manchester in order to represent Turkey during this international break, when they face Wales and Germany.

Since joining United, the 6ft 6in goalkeeper has appeared in a single competition, albeit for a brief duration of 45 minutes during Turkey’s 4-2 loss to Japan in September.

Bayindir was called up but did not participate in Turkey’s October internationals; he is now back in the squad to face Ertac Ozbir, Ugurcan Cakir, and Mert Gunok.

New Turkey manager Vincenzo Montella may wish to examine Bayindir closely in a game setting, given his limited playing time for Manchester United.

Even more so, Erik ten Hag may be optimistic that Bayindir will make his United debut within the following week, despite his resistance to the temptation to substitute him in thus far.
