Manchester United has two players In the future, Ruben Amorim may not be able to continue to ignore
So far this season, 25 big chances have been missed in the Premier League alone. This shows that Ruben Amorim needs to make big changes at Manchester United.
United has scored just nine goals in their first 10 league games this season. Only Southampton (seven) and Crystal Palace (eight) have scored fewer goals than United so far.
In less than a week, Amorim will start working at Old Trafford. He will already know that one of his first jobs will be to make sure that profits go up a lot in the final third.
In the past two years, United has spent a lot of money to try to improve their attack. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee were two players that cost more than £100 million. But so far this season, they’ve only scored three goals between them.
Because Hojlund missed the beginning of the season because of a hamstring injury, he is still getting back to match form. He did score 16 goals in his first season at United, so they are counting on him to score more.
A lot of people who watch United aren’t sure that Zirkzee, who they signed from Bologna in the summer, will give them the tools they need to help Hojlund. So far, he hasn’t been able to make a difference in M16.
Since Hojlund is still having problems and hasn’t proven himself as a prolific scorer, it’s not strange that more and more United fans are talking about how young players like Gabriele Biancheri and Chido Obi-Martin are improving.
The 18-year-old and 16-year-old players are both showing a lot of promise in the United youth ranks. It looks like Biahcheri will start for United’s Under-19s tonight when they play FK Zalgiris in the UEFA Youth League. He has been hitting a lot for United’s academy this season, with 15 goals across all age groups.
He scored his most recent goal on Saturday, when the Under-21s lost 5-2 to Sunderland. He has now scored eight goals in the Under-18s Premier League, two in the UEFA Youth League, and three in the Under-18s Premier League Cup this season. He has also scored twice for the Under-21s in the Premier League 2.
It’s not enough to say that he is productive. But it’s important to remember that Biancheri, a Welsh youth international, just turned 18 a little over a month ago. He deserves all the attention and hype he’s getting right now.
As a person and as a football player, he is still very young and learning his job. The teachers at United will know when it’s time for him to move up in his career.
The same goes for Obi-Martin, whose move to United was finalized in September. People at Carrington already think this young player, who will be 17 later this month, is one of their most exciting prospects. This is especially true since he scored a hat-trick on his full start for the Under-18s just over a week ago.
Obi-Martin had a great game against the Midlands team, coming on as a substitute twice and scoring three goals in the 6-0 win over Nottingham Forest. He showed great movement inside the penalty area, a willingness to track back and recover possession, the ability to win one-on-one battles, and the conviction to finish.
But, just like Biancheri, Obi-Martin is still getting used to United because he is young. The club’s leaders have already said they won’t rush his growth, so his progress will be handled carefully.
Without a question, though, United has two strikers who are coming up quickly and are already showing signs that they will have very successful careers in the future. Manchester United is very proud of their youth team, and they hope that Amorim will continue to see more grads play for the first team.
The 39-year-old supports up-and-coming players, which means United should be able to continue their proud tradition of bringing young players through the school and into the first team.
Manchester United must be careful not to put too many young players into the first team too soon, though.
Regardless, Biancheri and Obi-Martin are two of United’s most promising players that you should keep a close eye on. Absolutely, Amorim will be.
