Manchester United could be missing nine players for trip to Everton
Everton at Goodison Park is the rematch that Manchester United will face following the international break. Nine players could be absent from that contest.
The Red Devils defeated Luton Town 1-0 in Premier League play on Saturday afternoon; the lone goal of the match was scored in the second half by Victor Lindelof.
Recently, Manchester United have emerged victorious in four of their last five league games, and their impressive form in the English Premier League has propelled them to sixth place in the standings.
Five points separate fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur from division leaders Manchester City; on November 26, Erik ten Hag’s squad will be looking to make it three consecutive league victories at Everton.
However, the Red Devils may be without as many as nine players for the match, as Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen are the most recent to incur injuries.
Hojlund, the team’s leading scorer with five goals this season, was substituted off with an apparent hamstring injury in the closing phases of the 1-0 victory over Luton.
Both players, including Eriksen, who incurred a knee injury in the first half, have been withdrawn from the Denmark squad for their final two Euro 2024 qualification matches.
Although Manchester United has not yet issued an official statement regarding the two, they are considered significant doubts for the trip to Everton. Additionally, seven other players are expected to be absent.
Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez are both sidelined until after the holidays due to injury. Martinez has been sidelined since December due to a hamstring injury, while the former is recuperating from her second foot operation of the year.
Similarly, Jonny Evans is sidelined for several weeks after sustaining a quadriceps injury in last week’s Champions League match against Copenhagen.
Rear left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both expected to be unavailable for selection until December, as they continue to suffer from muscular and knee injuries, respectively.
Due to a knee injury, Amad Diallo has also been sidelined this season, and Jadon Sancho remains unattached to the first team following his public dispute with Ten Hag.
In light of this, Manchester United may be without nine players against Everton; however, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who was sidelined against Luton due to illness, is expected to have fully recovered.
Additionally, the manager of the Red Devils will be absent from Goodison Park due to suspension. Ten Hag received his third yellow card of the season against Luton.
