Manchester United can resolve Erik ten Hag’s most pressing issue by swap deal with West Ham.
Manchester United has the potential to resolve one of their most significant transfer issues by initiating negotiations with West Ham.
West Ham’s interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka may have provided Manchester United with an opportunity to resolve their midfield quandary.
Since the transfer window opened, the Red Devils have been one of the busiest Premier League teams, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s significant overhaul is beginning to take shape.
United has already announced the signing of Joshua Zirzkee from Bologna in a deal worth £36.5 million to provide competition for Rasmus Hojlund. Leny Yoro has also joined the club to infuse some star quality into Erik ten Hag’s backline.
United have now shifted their focus to resolving their midfield dilemma, with the primary objective of securing a defensive-minded player to accompany Kobbie Mainoo in the upcoming season. Some of the players they are considering include Manuel Ugarte of PSG and Joao Neves of Benfica.
Edson Alvarez, who made an impressive debut at the London Stadium, is also a target for the Red Devils, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Consequently, the Hammers’ willingness to initiate negotiations for Wan-Bissaka could be a source of joy for those at Old Trafford, as it could potentially create an opportunity for a swap deal to be reached.
Ten Hag has publicly declared his fondness for reuniting with players with whom he has previously collaborated. Alvarez, who collaborated with the 54-year-old at Ajax for three seasons, is an ideal candidate for this role.
Ratcliffe and his colleagues will face a challenging task in convincing West Ham to disband the Mexican international. However, the Red Devils are now cognizant of the fact that they have a makeweight available to them in negotiations that Julen Lopetegui is eager to utilise.
TalkSPORT reported earlier this week that the Hammers have initiated negotiations to negotiate a deal for the former Crystal Palace defender. United are prepared to sell the right-back if they receive an offer exceeding £15 million.
United will be cognizant of the fact that West Ham is eager to acquire a new right-back, following Southampton’s decision to partially exclude them from a pursuit of Kyle Walker-Peters. Consequently, they possess considerable bargaining leverage if they were to propose a player-plus-cash agreement for Alvarez.
The Red Devils will not face any financial constraints when it comes to paying an additional fee to finalise the deal, as Mason Greenwood is expected to sign with Marseille. However, they may be eager to sell Casemiro before bringing in his replacement.
