Manchester United and Liverpool struggles for who to get the signature of 19-year-old Portuguese professional footballer
There is new information about Christian Eriksen’s future at Old Trafford, and reports say that Manchester United are interested in Benfica star Joao Neves.
This week, Manchester United will be busy getting ready for their quick return to Premier League play.
The Reds and Brentford played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night, which was their first game back after the international break. Mason Mount thought he had won the game for United in extra time, but Kristoffer Ajer scored a few minutes later to tie the game.
Before they think about their next Premier League game, United will go to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea on Thursday night. Erik ten Hag and his team will still be keen to finish in the top four this season and make it into the Champions League.
Even though there are still a few weeks left in the season, United is already being linked with possible moves. This time, the rumors are about both a possible new player and a player leaving.
It is said in The Mirror that Christian Eriksen might be leaving United this summer. It has been said that the Reds are “open” to the idea of letting Eriksen leave Old Trafford when the summer transfer window opens again.
United signed Eriksen as a free agent in 2022 and gave him a three-year deal. He still has one year to go on that deal. The midfielder has played 21 times for the Reds this season in all competitions. However, Kobbie Mainoo’s rise to become a regular starter for the first team has made the teenager a key figure in United’s middle for the future. Because of this, Eriksen’s long-term situation at Old Trafford is not clear.
In other news, United is said to be facing new competition to sign Joao Neves, a defender for Benfica. It’s been said that the Reds want to sign the 19-year-old player for a while now, even during the January transfer window.
The Portuguese news site O Jogo says that Liverpool and Chelsea are also trying to sign Neves, along with United. The story says that both teams have “joined the race” to sign Neves, who is seen by many as one of Europe’s best young players.
Neves’s deal with Benfica is said to have a release clause worth €120 million (£102.5 million). It has also been said that the Portuguese club wants to sign new terms with Neves that would raise the price tag to €150 million (£128 million).
