Manchester City’s former player Benjamin Mendy will file an employment tribunal claim.
Benjamin Mendy is suing his former team, Manchester City, in an employment tribunal, claiming he should be compensated millions of pounds for unauthorized salary deductions.
France center back The 29-year-old Mendy left City this summer as his contract expired.
A number of rape and attempted rape accusations against him were dropped.
It is claimed that following Mendy’s initial charges and detention, City ceased to pay him in September 2021.
The “multi-million pound claim” that Mendy is pursuing is being handled by renowned UK sports attorney Nick De Marco, according to a statement. It is anticipated that the case will be tried in 2024.
Mendy joined Lorient of Ligue 1 at the beginning of the current season, and he has made three appearances for the French team as a substitute thus far.
After spending £52 million to join City from Monaco in 2017, he went on to win Premier League championships in 2018 and 2019 and 2021.
On August 15, 2021, he made his last appearance for the team in the Premier League.
Before being freed on bond in January 2022, Mendy was placed under remand for five months in custody. In August 2022, he was put on trial for the first time.
He was found not guilty on six charges of rape and one charge of sexual assault in January.
At a retrial in July, he was then found not guilty of raping one lady and trying to rape another.
When BBC Sport contacted City, they remained silent.
