Manchester City star breaks silence after injury blow
Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, sustained an ankle injury during Norway’s friendly victory over the Faroe Islands last week.
Striker Erling Haaland of Manchester City has vowed to work diligently to return to the field as soon as feasible following an injury he sustained last week.
The City star caused concern among Blues supporters on Thursday when, during Norway’s 2-0 victory over the Faroe Islands, he collapsed in the penalty area grasping his ankle. The medical personnel of the national team attended to him on the field, and he was ultimately able to continue and complete the match.
Ola Sand, the team physician, subsequently verified that Haaland would travel to Scotland in an effort to participate in Sunday’s Euro 2024 qualifying match. Sand, nevertheless, revised his prognosis on Saturday morning.
According to a statement, “The injury is not serious, but he is in so much pain and somewhat restricted function that the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early.” It was a devastating setback for the Blues, who had hoped he would be available to face Liverpool next weekend without doubt.
Haaland issued a defiant message on X after confirming the news and as his recovery commenced. “Unfortunately, I will be absent from tomorrow’s match against Scotland,” the forward wrote. Optimistic wishes for the lads. “Currently undergoing treatment and attempting to return as soon as possible.”
Haaland has maintained his crucial role within Pep Guardiola’s squad subsequent to his unprecedented inaugural season in the Premier League.
In 18 appearances so far this season, Haaland has scored an impressive seventeen goals. Additionally, he holds the lead in the Premier League Golden Boot competition, surpassing Mohamed Salah of Liverpool by three goals.
