Manchester City receive potential boost as release clause for player is extended giving them more time to seal deal
In their prospective pursuit of Dani Olmo, Manchester City have been granted a bonus: the €60m release clause of the player has been extended by five days.
Sport has reported that Olmo’s clause has been extended as a result of Spain’s advancement to the final of Euro 2024.
The midfielder has been a standout performer for La Roja this summer, contributing significantly to their success in reaching the final and being considered the finest team at the tournament in Germany.
His performances are expected to incite a competition for his signature, as numerous prominent European clubs are believed to be interested, particularly in light of the €60 million release clause in his current contract.
Reports indicate that Manchester City is among those who are interested in him, with the possibility of a transfer being described as “extremely promising” earlier this month. Subsequently, they asserted that they could effortlessly satisfy his release provision.
The primary issue was that the clause was predicated on an expiration date; however, this issue has been somewhat mitigated as a result of Spain’s participation in the 2024 Euro final.
Sport reports that Spain’s success has resulted in a five-day extension of the €60m clause, according to their information. Therefore, it will now expire on July 20th, rather than July 15th.
Any club that negotiates an agreement with the player has the option to acquire him for the price that was established at that time. They now have ten days to do so, as opposed to the previous five.
Manchester City’s decision to relocate remains uncertain; however, the opportunity to do so has been extended, which may serve as an incentive for them to do so.
