Manchester City is currently in negotiations to sell £11 million player in the summer – Fabrizio Romano

Manchester City is currently in discussions to transfer one of their players this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

In previous summer transfer windows, a variety of players have moved in and out of the Etihad Stadium on permanent deals, loans, and as free agents to a broad range of clubs throughout Europe and beyond.

The official opening of the upcoming summer transfer window is not scheduled until June 14.

Nevertheless, a journalist and transfer expert has disclosed some exclusive details regarding a potential transaction that the Manchester club is currently engaged in and could potentially occur upon the opening of the transfer window.

Romano recently addressed the issue in a post on his official X account.

He stated, “EXCL: Real Sociedad has initiated negotiations to acquire Sergio Gomez, a left-back, from Manchester City.”

“Real Sociedad is seeking a replacement for Kieran Tierney, and Gomez is anticipated to depart Manchester City this summer.” Tierney, like Gomez, has returned to the #AFC and Real Madrid.
City acquired the Spaniard from Anderlecht for £11 million during the summer transfer window of 2022.

Gomez has appeared in 39 games across all competitions with Pep Guardiola’s team, starting only 14 of them, after two seasons.

In fact, the 23-year-old did not commence any of the six games in which he appeared during the current Premier League campaign and only accumulated 48 minutes of action.

This explains why the full-back is now anticipated to depart the club and why City are in the process of negotiating a sale.

In the event that City receives an offer for the defender that they deem suitable, we believe that the most advantageous course of action for all parties involved would be for Gomez to depart the club and join Sociedad, provided that they can provide him with consistent playing time.
