Man Utd players need to take responsibility for their play – Maguire

There is a lot of heat on Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, and defender Harry Maguire says it’s easy for the players to “blame the staff and tactics.” He also says the players have “got to do better.”

As of now, the Old Trafford team is 14th in the Premier League. In their six games, they have won two, lost three, and tied one.

They play Aston Villa away on Sunday at 14:00 BST. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of the club, said that deciding Ten Hag’s future was “not my call.”

“This is my sixth season, so I know what it’s all about,” Maguire, an England center back, said.

“I know that things get hard for you and that everyone points the finger at you.”

“The manager and I have shown over the last couple of seasons that we can beat anyone when we focus.” The trouble has been consistency, and we need to start showing it.

Prior to the game at Villa Park, United lost 3-0 at home to Tottenham in the league and tied 3-3 with Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, with Maguire scoring the late goal to tie the game.

In 24 games under Ten Hag, they have now given up three or more goals on 24 occasions.

“Clearly not good enough, no.” “We gotta do more for sure,” said Maguire, who is 31 years old.

“As a football player, it’s easy to point the finger at your teammates, the coaching staff, or the strategy. You need to analyze yourself.

“You’ve got to take responsibility and each and every one of us has got to do better in these moments.”

“This season we feel like we’re playing better than last”

After beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final the previous year, United won 2-1 at Villa Park in February.

But in the end, they finished eighth in the Premier League with a goal difference of -1.

However, Maguire thinks Ten Hag’s team is “playing better than last season” even though they have scored five goals and given up eight so far this season.

“We’ve got to find belief within ourselves, take the belief from what we did last season at Villa Park,” said Maguire.

“We haven’t seen results. Without a doubt, the game against Spurs was terrible. I think we should have more points on the board besides that.

As a result, we need to take action starting on Sunday. There is a tough game, but what a wonderful place to visit.
