Man United refuse Sir Alex Ferguson’s top coach choice as contact has been made already with ‘spectacular’ coach
Manchester United are reportedly prepared to reject the manager that Sir Alex Ferguson has recommended they hire, according to reports that indicate that they have made an approach for a different coach.
Erik ten Hag is anticipating the decision regarding his future as the manager of Manchester United. It is anticipated that the review of Ten Hag’s future will be finalized by the end of the week, at which point Manchester United will determine whether the Dutchman has fulfilled the requirements to remain in control.
After he stunned Manchester City and assisted Man Utd in winning the FA Cup final in their final game of the season, some fans may be disappointed if Ten Hag is dismissed. However, there are those who will be relieved to see Ten Hag depart following another unsuccessful league season in which the Red Devils only managed to secure eighth place, trailing the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Newcastle United.
Man Utd have spoken with Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino about replacing the 54-year-old in the Old Trafford hot seat, amid ambiguity over his future. Additionally, admiring glances have been directed toward England manager Gareth Southgate.
Man Utd legend Ferguson has instructed the club to recruit Pochettino, a former manager of Chelsea and Spurs, according to correspondent Graeme Bailey.
Ferguson has been a longtime admirer of the Argentine, and in 2016, he even dined with him, which sparked rumors about Pochettino becoming the manager of Manchester United.
However, earlier on Monday, it was disclosed that Pochettino’s prospects of becoming the new manager of Manchester United are diminishing. Ferguson will be disappointed by the fact that Manchester United’s executives no longer regard him as a prominent candidate, despite the fact that the 52-year-old has engaged in discussions with them.
In addition, Tuchel has disqualified himself from consideration for the position, as he intends to take a hiatus from the game after his departure from Bayern Munich, rather than immediately returning to management with Manchester United.
On Monday morning, it was revealed that Roberto De Zerbi, the former Brighton coach, is moving up Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s wish list and is expected to challenge Southgate for the prospective vacancy.
Bailey has recently disclosed that Manchester United has initiated the process of attempting to acquire De Zerbi by establishing communication with the 45-year-old’s entourage.
De Zerbi has recently elected to depart Brighton; however, an agreement between the two entities necessitates that Manchester United compensate the Seagulls with £5 million in order to secure his services.
Ferguson may not consider the Italian his top candidate for the Manchester United position; however, he continues to have significant supporters within the sport.
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, declared in March that he was conducting a “outstanding” job on the south coast. Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has consistently referred to De Zerbi as one of the most influential coaches in the European game.
Teddy Sheringham, the former striker of Manchester United, would also be pleased with the club’s acquisition of De Zerbi. Sheringham responded, “It’s a difficult decision,” when questioned about the possibility of such an action last month. I continue to appreciate Roberto De Zerbi.
“I believe that he has performed admirably at Brighton this season, despite the challenging circumstances.” They have sold a significant number of high-quality players over the years; however, I am uncertain if they have reinvested the funds to maintain the team’s performance at the same level as the previous season. I believe that De Zerbi has still done a decent job, despite the paucity of investment.
“I continue to consider De Zerbi as a potential candidate to lead Manchester United.” He appears to be somewhat temperamental; however, I appreciate his ethical standards and the manner in which he approaches the game of football.
“You can identify his passion for football by the manner in which he desires his teams to perform.” I appreciate his optimistic perspective on football and the manner in which his teams operate.
