Man United is still making their shortlist for managers, and a former Bundesliga manager “emerges as shock contender to replace Erik ten Hag.”

It is said that a surprise candidate has appeared for the Manchester United job should the club decide to fire Erik ten Hag.

United has had the worst start to a Premier League season ever under the Dutch manager. They are currently 14th with just eight points after seven games and have not won in their last five games in any tournament.

But Ten Hag was not fired because United’s top leaders met for six hours last Tuesday at the INEOS offices of minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

If, however, the Red Devils’ form keeps getting worse when club football starts up again after the international break, United may have to make a tough decision.

Several people, including former Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel and ex-Chelsea manager Graham Potter, have been linked with the job if Ten Hag is fired.

It’s possible that United will have to make a tough choice if the Red Devils’ play keeps getting worse when club football resumes after the international break.

When Ten Hag is fired, the job has been linked to a number of people, such as Thomas Tuchel, who used to manage Bayern Munich, and Graham Potter, who used to manage Chelsea.

Since he quit Borussia Dortmund on his own in June after leading the German giants to the Champions League final, Terzic has not had a job.

The 41-year-old got his coaching badges with Potter and Nemanja Vidic, a legend for Manchester United. He first joined Dortmund in 2010 as a scout and then as an assistant coach.

In 2013, he left to work as an assistant coach for Slaven Bilic at Besiktas. In 2015, he followed Bilic to West Ham United.

In 2018, Terzic went back to Dortmund to work as an assistant coach for the first team. But in December 2020, when Lucien Favre was fired, Terzic was put in charge of the team for the rest of the season as temporary manager.

Dortmund beat RB Leipzig 4-1 in the DFB-Pokal final, and he helped them win it. However, Marco Rose took over as manager after Terzic became technical director.

But Terzic moved from the desk to the bench again when he was hired as the club’s new manager after Rose quit after only one season.

In Terzic’s first full season at Dortmund, they lost the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich because of goal difference. The next year, they fell to fifth place.

He shocked everyone by unexpectedly leaving Dortmund almost two weeks after the Champions League final. He said, “The club’s new era should begin with a new man on the touchline.”

It was Nuri Sahin, who played over 270 games for Dortmund, who took over from Terzic in the summer. He had been back as an assistant coach since December 2023.

With 10 points from six games, Dortmund is seventh in the Bundesliga under Sahin. However, they are first in the Champions League after beating Celtic 7-1 and Club Brugge 3-0.
