In his most recent assessment of life at Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes said that the environment was “not positive” and that he would rather work with the Portugal team.

Under boss Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils are off to the worst start to a Premier League season ever. After seven games, they are 14th in the table.

Before the international break, Man United had played in two shaky draws. In the first, they lost a two-goal lead against Porto, and in the second, they tied 0-0 against Aston Villa.

It is said that the club is looking at replacements, including former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel. Ten Hag will be hoping that his team’s play improves after the break in order to keep his job as manager.

The Dutch boss will also want to see improved morale, which his captain said was being affected by the rough start.

Fernandes told the Sun, “It’s not a positive moment.” He blamed “not winning games” for the team’s mood and confirmed that “the national team space is completely different.”

“I’ve felt very at ease, and things are moving along well,” the foreigner continued. “I’m in my own country, I speak my own language, and the food is better.”

“In the national team, I have shown a good level.”

I enjoy playing football very much there because of how lively it is and the quality of the players I have with me.

Even though Fernandes got his second red card of the season against Porto and won’t be able to play in the upcoming European games, his first one, which was given to him days earlier during Manchester United’s embarrassing 3-0 loss to Tottenham, was reversed on appeal.

In turn, this means the player will be able to play in next week’s must-win games against Brentford and West Ham.

It was very clear to Fernandes that his main goal is to “improve as soon as I get there (back to Manchester)”.

“Making goals show up again because I’m a midfielder who scores a lot of goals and has proven to be very good at it over the years.”

“Those expectations and my own standards must be met.” After not scoring at the club yet, what I’ve been doing is not at all what I want to do this season.

“When I get there, I hope to score goals that will help my team win again and regain its form.”

On Saturday night, the 30-year-old will play in Portugal’s first Nations League match against Poland and will be looking to get back to his best on the international stage.

With a goal against Scotland and an assist against Croatia in the last round of international games, Fernandes will play Scotland again in Group 1 before going back to Old Trafford.
