Barcelona is interested in retaining the Portuguese star ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, and Manchester City are prepared to part ways with Joao Cancelo this summer. The club is open to selling the full-back for a mere €30m.

The 30-year-old was on loan with the Catalan club during this term and appeared in 42 games as the La Liga powers failed to secure a trophy. Cancelo was instrumental in Xavi’s team’s success, contributing four goals and five assists. The team is interested in retaining the Manchester City star.

Mundo Deportivo reports that the Premier League champions are prepared to sell Cancelo for a mere €30 million this summer. However, Barcelona may still find this to be an excessive amount.

The Catalan club is still facing significant financial difficulties and will need to transfer players in order to secure new superstars for the 2024/25 season. It is uncertain whether Barcelona will be able to finalise a deal for Cancelo, as the La Liga team has not yet sold a player for a substantial sum during the current transfer window.

Man City’s asking price has been disclosed, which may encourage other clubs to enter the competition. This would pose a significant challenge for Barcelona in their pursuit of the Portugal international.

Since 2019, Cancelo has been a member of Manchester City, having transferred from Juventus. Pep Guardiola utilised the 30-year-old Portuguese defender to generate overloads in midfield, transforming him into one of the world’s finest full-backs.

Nevertheless, their relationship fell apart, which enabled Cancelo to join Bayern Munich on loan for the second half of the previous season and Barcelona for the current campaign.

Man City is now prepared to cut their losses with the Portugal international, as the full-back is no longer the same player he was previously and has no future in Manchester.
