Man City is poised to thwart Manchester United’s double raid for close friends in football as Barcelona star is willing to join
Frenkie de Jong, the star of Barcelona, is reportedly interested in joining Manchester City during the summer transfer window, despite the interest of his rivals, Manchester United.
The Red Devils have frequently been the subject of speculation regarding the Netherlands international’s potential transfer to the Premier League in recent years.
During Erik ten Hag’s inaugural summer in command, there was an abundance of reports that linked De Jong to a potential transfer to Old Trafford. It appeared as though such a move was imminent at one point.
Nevertheless, it was widely recognised that De Jong had no intention of departing Barcelona, despite the Catalan giants’ efforts to transfer his substantial remuneration to another club.
De Jong made an appearance earlier this year to denounce the “lies” in the media regarding his contract and future, and speculation has persisted in every window.
“What is my future?” In all honesty, I am somewhat dissatisfied with the content that you [journalists] produce. De Jong informed reporters in February that he was frustrated by the abundance of inaccurate information that was being made public.
“The media’s assertions regarding my salary and future are entirely false.” There is an abundance of smoke.
“I am aware that the media often fabricates information; you publish falsehoods.” You are engaging in this activity with a large number of participants, coaches, and even officials. It is impossible to do so; you are fabricating information. Discontinue this action.
“I appreciate the staff and consider the club to be my teammates. I am thoroughly enjoying myself.” My level is occasionally criticised by the media; however, this is irrelevant, as each individual is entitled to their own perspective. However, I do not condone deception. Refrain from fabricating information.
Earlier this week, there were reports that Manchester United were preparing to make a double move for Matthijs de Ligt, a former Ajax teammate and “best friends in football,” who is presently playing for Bayern Munich.
However, recent reports in Spain indicate that De Jong is interested in signing with Manchester City, as Barcelona is once again seeking to sell one of their most talented players.
The La Liga team has “once again hung up the transfer sign” for De Jong and is eager to “get him off their back before he begins to devalue himself.”
The report includes the following:
“Barça would have attempted to incorporate Bernardo Silva into the operation at the request of Xavi Hernández if the offer had been received last year.” Nevertheless, the Portuguese celebrity is no longer of interest.
“Barça will not be lenient with a club that did not relinquish a single euro from the 55 million it requested for Ferran Torres and that intends to profit with Joao Cancelo.”
Barcelona is aware that City will not fulfil his €4m release provision, but they are unwilling to negotiate a price below €100m. De Jong is intrigued by the current project of Pep Guardiola and would not object to joining his team.
