Man City confident that exit-linked player will not leave the club this summer
Numerous high-profile players have left Manchester City during previous summer transfer windows in recent years.
Prominent individuals including Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan, and Riyad Mahrez have departed from the Etihad Stadium in order to embark on fresh experiences in other locations.
Pep Guardiola’s squad demonstrated they have not missed any of their recent departures by securing their sixth Premier League championship in seven years and becoming the first team to win four consecutive seasons.
As yet another summer transfer window approaches, some confidential information has emerged concerning the Manchester club’s stance on a particular player and the likelihood that he will depart in the near future.
A recent ESPN report stated the following regarding the subject.
It was stated, “ESPN has been informed by sources that optimism is growing that Bernardo Silva will remain this summer.”
“After seven years at the Etihad, the midfielder has a £50 million release clause in his contract and is eager to pursue a new challenge.”
“Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have previously expressed interest in Silva, but a source claims that Barcelona lacks the financial resources to complete the transfer, and Silva has been removed from PSG’s list of summer targets.”
Since his initial recruitment by the Citizens in 2017, the midfielder has accumulated 355 appearances in all competitions, during which time he has contributed to 66 goals and the same number of assists.
Silva plays a pivotal role for City.
The 29-year-old, who was widely linked with a transfer away last summer, started 43 of the 49 games he appeared in during his most recent campaign with City.
This underscores the critical role that he fulfills for the team.
Indeed, following Silva’s game-winning goal in City’s FA Cup semi-final triumph over Chelsea (1-0), Guardiola expressed his “comfort” level of performance with the Portuguese international, attributing it to his astuteness in maintaining possession of the ball.
All things considered, the midfielder’s continued employment with City this summer would undoubtedly benefit every member of the club, but Guardiola in particular.
