Man City are currently in talks with Spain over attacking midfielder; Discussion regarded as not urgent

It has been reported that officials at the Etihad Stadium have engaged in discussions regarding the profile of Dani Olmo, a Spanish attacking midfielder, and RB Leipzig.

Manchester City are still actively seeking midfield reinforcements this summer, with their primary focus on a backup option for mainstay Rodrigo and contingency plans for Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva.

De Bruyne, the Belgian playmaker, is approaching the conclusion of his current contract with Etihad. Despite the absence of any scheduled renewal negotiations, the Saudi Pro League remains particularly interested in him.

City are anticipating that Bernardo Silva will depart the club, as has been the case in recent seasons. However, the Portugal international’s options have been significantly restricted by the inability of clubs to approve fees at the £50 million valuation of his release clause.

The initial discussions regarding another Bundesliga profile have been disclosed in a new report, as the recruitment managers at the Etihad Stadium continue to pursue the acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.

Sam Lee of The Athletic has disclosed that Manchester City has previously engaged in discussions regarding RB Leipzig and Spain international Dani Olmo. It was, however, “not regarded as a particularly urgent discussion.”

Despite the fact that Olmo’s campaign with Leipzig was primarily impacted by injuries last season, he was able to make 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.

Olmo was able to secure a spot in Spain’s squad for the ongoing European Championships, despite his inconsistencies with the Saxony club. He recorded an assist in his nation’s third and final group stage clash against Albania on Monday night.

The possibility of Manchester City returning to Olmo after the tournament’s conclusion is uncertain, particularly if their plans for his position become more complex as the new season approaches.
