Major reason why Scott McTominay is absent from Manchester United squad vs Liverpool

Scott McTominay, a defender for Manchester United, has not been added to the team that will play Liverpool in the Premier League.

Three weeks after United’s amazing extra-time Emirates FA Cup win, the Merseysiders are back at Old Trafford for this league match, but the Scotland international is not in the starting lineup or the replacements list this time.

The 27-year-old was very important in that cup match last month. He scored our first goal, set up Marcus Rashford’s second, and played the whole game.

Since that cup match, McTominay has played two full 90-minute games for his country. He started against Brentford with United at the end of March and then came on for Casemiro in the last 15 minutes of the game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Before today’s game against the Merseysiders, there was no sign that he might not be able to play, but Ten Hag’s 20-man team does not include him.

The manager hasn’t said why McTominay isn’t playing yet, but we can confirm that Scott has been added to United’s long list of injured players. This means the Dutch manager will have one less midfielder to choose from in the Sunday afternoon game.

In due course, news of his accident and how long he is expected to be out will likely be made public.

Ten Hag has been having a lot of trouble with injuries lately. On Thursday night’s trip to the capital, both Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans got hurt at center back.

Both of the center backs are also not in the team to play the Merseysiders, and their possible return dates have not been announced yet.

Willy Kambwala, a defender, got his second start with the first team because of this turn of events. Harry Amass, another Academy graduate, was also included in the senior United matchday group for the first time in his young career.
