Liverpool on red alert as summer transfer target could be available next year for a transfer move

According to TalkSPORT, Liverpool are purportedly on high alert due to the possibility of Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi becoming available next year.

The Englishman was the subject of attention during the recently concluded summer window due to his remarkable performances in the European Championship for England, which helped his country reach the final before losing to Spain.

The Reds were rumoured to be interested in acquiring him; however, they ultimately declined to make a formal approach to secure his signature prior to the deadline due to his substantial asking price.

Newcastle United was the most interested club in signing him, and it was even reported that they made several official proposals to the Eagles in order to finalise the deal. Nevertheless, they declined to match Palace’s £75 million asking price, which ultimately prevented the completion of the transaction.

TalkSPORT has reported that Crystal Palace may be compelled to sell Guehi next year, despite the fact that the defender’s current contract is scheduled to expire in 2026 and he is not in a hurry to extend it.

Consequently, in the event that Oliver Glasner’s representatives are ultimately unable to reach a new agreement with him, they may consider selling him next summer in order to prevent his release on a free agent in 2026.

Liverpool is reportedly “on alert” and may pursue the acquisition of Guehi in the upcoming summer, according to the report. Arne Slot was adamant about not making any compromises this summer and was determined to secure his top targets in order to ensure that Liverpool would renew their interest in Guehi if he were available in 2025.

Nevertheless, Chelsea may also become engaged in an effort to entice him back to Stamford Bridge, and the Magpies may rekindle their interest in signing him if he becomes available in the future.

Liverpool was anticipated to pursue a new defender this summer in response to Joel Matip’s departure as a free agent. However, they refrained from doing so, and they may now consider recruiting a new centre-back in the upcoming year.

Quick, muscular, adept in the air, and at ease playing out from the back, Guehi also makes exceptional defensive contributions. He has already demonstrated his capabilities in the Premier League and has earned a spot in the England national team.

Therefore, Liverpool would be able to secure a significant asset by purchasing him. Nevertheless, it is uncertain whether the Merseyside club will ultimately decide to formalise their interest in acquiring him in order to strengthen the defence.
