Liverpool may be facing nightmare Kylian Mbappe scenario after Real Madrid twist

Kylian Mbappe’s spectacular transfer was something that Liverpool had hoped to accomplish, but Real Madrid may have doomed them to the worst-case scenario.

The likelihood that Liverpool’s dream transfer target Kylian Mbappe will join one of their Premier League rivals has increased following reports that Real Madrid withdrew from the contest to acquire the Paris Saint-Germain superstar. Despite signing a new contract with PSG, Mbappe’s future remains uncertain, as the Reds have long admired the 24-year-old.

Cadena SER, a Spanish publication, has reported that Real Madrid no longer considers Mbappe a transfer target, despite having previously been heavily linked to the French forward. Los Blancos have shifted their focus to other matters, as veteran Brazilian wonderkid Endrick is expected to join the club along with Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo.

This development has created opportunities for other leading clubs to vie for Mbappe’s services, and L’Equipe has previously reported that Liverpool are among the contenders to acquire him. Their interest extends back to 2017, but the finances involved present a challenge for Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

According to Spanish reports, Mbappe is seeking an annual salary of £30.5 million (after taxes) and a signing bonus of approximately £87 million, in addition to any transfer fee PSG may demand for him.

Liverpool may have a considerable amount of cash available for spending in the summer, particularly if Mohamed Salah decides to join Saudi Arabia. However, it is improbable that they will be capable of matching the offers put forth by their competitors.
