Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp secret transfer message to his replacement has been revealed and it’s shocking
Jurgen Klopp both reminded and warned about the next crop of Liverpool players.
When needed for FA Cup service, Jurgen Klopp has never been afraid to use Liverpool’s Academy.
In January 2016, they played against Exeter City, and Tiago Ilori, Brad Smith, Connor Randall, Cameron Brannagan, Kevin Stewart, Ryan Kent, Joao Carlos Teixeira, Jerome Sinclair, Pedro Chirivella, Sheyi Ojo, and Joe Maguire were all on the team. Some were even brought back from loan to play for a much-changed team in the third round match.
In January 2020, a young, changed team would beat Everton 1-0, with Nat Phillips, Neco Williams, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Yasser Larouci, Rhian Brewster, and Chirivella all playing.
In the meantime, Neil Critchley was in charge of the Under-21s team, which had Jones, Elliott, Williams, Chirivella, Caoimhin Kelleher, Ki-Jana Hoever, Sepp van den Berg, and Leighton Clarkson on it. That team beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0 in a repeat in the fourth round that same season.
The Shrews were the opponents again in January 2022. Because of a COVID outbreak in the Reds’ practice, the third round of that year’s competition turned to Conor Bradley, Elijah Dixon-Bonner, Tyler Morton, Kaide Gordon, Max Woltman, Melkamu Frauendorf, and James Norris.
Players like Trent-Alexander Arnold, Ovie Ejaria, Ben Woodburn, Harry Wilson, Rafa Camacho, Rhys Williams, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak have all had good starts to their Liverpool careers in the FA Cup, even when the team didn’t make many changes.
The fact that so few of those names went on to have long-lasting effects at Anfield is telling. Only Jones, Elliott, Alexander-Arnold, and Kelleher have been regulars on the first team for a long time in the last eight years. Bradley and Bajcetic will hope to join that group in the coming months and years.
That might be why Klopp was quick to say that he didn’t have high hopes for his new group of young players after Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over Southampton.
“After the win, the Liverpool manager said, “I fully understand it, but it’s kind of like the new darts star (Luke Littler); it’s fine for tonight.” “However, please leave the boys in the corner starting tomorrow.” Additionally, do not inquire, “Where are they now?” What are they doing now? They are nowhere to be found.
Their skills and knowledge need to be improved. Also, everyone who is with us should have some moments. I think they will have more moments than they thought they would have, which is one thing.
“They are very talented, but it’s not normal for an 18-year-old boy to be so calm that he just chipped the ball there for Danns’ first goal.”
But it’s hard not to be excited after a week that will go down in Academy history, with the latest group of young people doing things that have never been seen before. Their efforts have not been limited to the early rounds of cup competitions because of the growing number of injuries.
Since the start of the season, Jarell Quansah has been great at center back, and Bradley has been great at right back since coming back from a long-term back injury. Throughout the campaign, James McConnell has also gotten a lot of attention. On the other hand, Bobby Clark is getting more and more attention with each new turn he makes.
All four would play key roles in last weekend’s win over Chelsea in the League Cup final. Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns, on the other hand, have come out on top against the Saints.
Koumas, whose father played for Wales and scored a goal, scored the first goal with a deflected shot after Klopp gave him his adult debut. As for Danns, who scored two goals off the bench after making an impression with short appearances against Luton Town and Chelsea, his father Neil was a winger in the Football League. Neither of them is older than 18, and Trey Nyoni, who is 16, would become the club’s fourth-youngest player ever if he was called up from the bench.
This season has seen senior starts from Doak, Gordon, Bajcetic, Luke Chambers, Calum Scanlon, and Owen Beck. With Alexander-Arnold, Jones, Elliott, and Kelleher already well-established first team players, it has been one of the most successful years for the Academy.
Of course, Liverpool’s young players won’t have many chances this season after their older stars come back. But Klopp is leaving in the summer, and most of the first team players are going to play for their countries. This means that most of those young players will get a chance to impress the next Reds boss during pre-season.
For now, Liverpool’s search for a new manager is put on hold while club executives focus on how their football operations will run after Klopp leaves. They need to find a new sporting director right now, and FSG is trying to get Michael Edwards to come back to the club in a senior job to help with the search.
FSG’s list of things to do right now seems to include 1) Edwards, 2) the sports director, 3) the manager, and 4) the summer signings. But, no matter how their team looks for next season, they might not need to be as busy when the transfer window opens again thanks to Klopp’s ongoing gift.
Fans would have been clear at the start of the season that their team needed a new right back, center back, and midfielder. The fact that Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are set to leave at the end of this season seems to make these wants even stronger.
However, Bradley and Quansah have filled the first two positions very well, and Clark, who is highly rated, may be in the best position to stake his claim for a senior middle spot before Thiago leaves.
