Darwin Nunez pulls out of Uruguay duty because the Liverpool striker needs time to heal from a leg injury.

Darwin Nunez has pulled out of Uruguay’s trip because he hurt his leg in Sunday’s 4-3 loss to Manchester United.

But Nunez is still thought to be in the running to play against Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield on March 31. There are still almost two weeks until Liverpool’s next game.

The Reds striker just got back from a similar problem at Nottingham Forest earlier this month. He played all 120 minutes at Old Trafford on Sunday, but Jurgen Klopp’s team lost in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Following the game, Klopp revealed that Nunez was one of many players who got hurt. He told the BBC, “Now the boys go on international duty, they have to recover.” We hope they are healthy when they get back.

“Something went wrong. Lucho (Luis Diaz) felt his groin and Darwin felt his leg. Hopefully it’s not that. Also, I think Cody Gakpo hurt his hip. We’ll have to see because I didn’t see it back.

“I cannot say when their first game is, but it will likely be in four or five days. Their schedule is very tight.” The rest of the season will start after that, so let’s hope they can get through it.

Nunez’s absence, on the other hand, is only seen as a measure, and Liverpool expect him to be back in time for their important Premier League game against Brighton. If they win, they’ll be in first place before Arsenal plays Manchester City later that same day.

Nunez has been playing well and has scored nine goals for Liverpool this year. Because of this, he will miss La Celeste’s friendly with Senegal in France on March 26 and their practice game with Basque in Spain three days earlier.

Liverpool is missing up to eight first-team players right now: Alisson Becker, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak. However, Ibrahima Konate has returned from France duty after missing the last three games with his own muscle injury.

Even though Klopp said that Luis Diaz was hurt after Sunday’s loss to United, he has also reported for service with Colombia. The winger for Los Cafeteros could play in their games against Spain at West Ham’s London Stadium and against Romania at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.
