Leicester City needs to be in the best shape possible to beat Everton, according to Miquel
Amandine Miquel, the manager of Leicester City, says that her team must have a better desire to win than Everton when they play on Sunday afternoon at The King Power Stadium.
One goal has been scored by each team in the Barclays Women’s Super League so far this season, and neither team has won a game.
Miquel, the manager of Leicester City, told the press before the game that she thinks it will be a close game and that the winner could be the team with the greatest desire to win.
“From what they’ve done so far, they seem like a team like us: they’re doing well but getting off to a slow start,” Miquel said. “It will be interesting to see how two teams that got off to a slow start perform against each other with interesting game plans.”
“I believe the game will be close.” It’s important to think like winners and want to do more than the other team. Everyone in the other team wants to win and do well, so how you think can make a difference at this time. They will want to come here and get something, so we will have to believe in ourselves more than they do.
Miquel doesn’t understand why Leicester City is having so much trouble scoring goals against, but she thinks that some of her attacking players might be lacking trust.
She said, “It’s strange because I thought our players were moving well together offensively in pre-season.” That needs to be found again, and everyone needs a chance. That will happen more often now that some guys are out.
“I believe we have a lot of potential, but I think they may not be confident in their offensive skills right now.”
Leicester City has been better at defense; the Foxes have given up only one more goal than Barclays Women’s Super League winners Manchester City so far. Miquel thinks that part of the field is getting better.
She said, “As a manager, I like how teams attack, so I’m not doing what I like most, but I think defense is important.” This is something that wasn’t done well last season, which is why we worked on it first.
“It’s getting better. It’s interesting to see how the last four games’ stats relate to those from last season. The stats are getting better, but I think we can still do a lot better.
