Everyone knows that Kyrie Irving has a grudge against the Celtics, yet he still jumped at the chance.
To say that Kyrie Irving’s relationship with the Boston Celtics is cloudy would be an understatement.
The relationship between Irving and the Celtics hasn’t always been smooth sailing.
Irving has been known to burn sage in the arena, spit on spectators during games, and yell at people after Boston games.
But there was a period when becoming a Celtic was something he was really looking forward to.
The Celtics seemed like a perfect fit when he asked the Cleveland Cavaliers for a trade to get out of LeBron James’ shadow.
Along with Al Horford, they had Gordon Hayward, two young players with star potential in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and that offseason they signed Hayward.
They were good enough to be a top-tier squad.
However, Irving was not a good match for the Boston Celtics, and the squad failed to achieve its goals for a variety of reasons.
Two years later, he signed with the Brooklyn Nets in free agency, sparking the Celtics fanbase’s animosity toward him.
Everyone paid more attention when Jaylen Brown, a player for the Celtics, recently joined Irving on a live and asked him about his time in Boston. Irving, however, responded with grace.
It was right when I arrived, my friend. “It was insanely thrilling,” Irving exclaimed. Up the street from where my dad went to school was a playground.
Going there and being able to accompany you all felt appropriate because my mom also graduated from [Boston University].
“And bro, to be on the floor with that much talent after being in Cleveland. I needed that change of pace. You guys were challenging me every day, and I needed that. I need that for sure. So, first getting there, the excitement, being able to put on the Boston Celtics uniform, that was crazy.”

Irving’s perception from people around the NBA has improved a lot in his time with the Dallas Mavericks.
He’s finally found a home and a place where he can win and be happy in Dallas, and that matters. These streams he’s been doing this offseason have helped people see more of his personality and true character
