The Stein Line’s Marc Stein, an NBA insider, says that Kyrie Irving’s new three-year agreement with the Dallas Mavericks is worth a total of $118.5 million.

Irving has a player option for Year 3, a 15% trade kicker, and a clause that lets him get half of his salary for each season by October 1.

Kyrie Irving tore his left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in March of last year while playing in 50 games.

He averaged 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists.

The product of Duke University shot 91.6% from the charity stripe, 40.1% from beyond the arc, and 47.3% from the field. March 23, 2026 is Irving’s 34th birthday.

The skilled point guard’s previous teams include the Mavericks, the Brooklyn Nets, the Boston Celtics, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. With career averages of 23.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, he has been named to the All-Star team nine times.

Irving was an integral part of the Cavaliers’ 2016 NBA Finals victory over the Warriors.

At Oracle Arena, he defeated Warriors guard Stephen Curry with the game-winning jumper in Game 7. After reaching the NBA Finals in 2024, the Mavericks were unable to repeat that feat last year.

Nico Harrison will likely never recover from the startling February transaction that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and Max Christie.

Cooper Flagg, a standout player for Duke, was picked by Dallas in the 2025 draft.

After that, during free agency, the front office re-united left-handed Davis with D’Angelo Russell. Davis and Russell were teammates on the 2023 Lakers club that made it to the conference finals.

Irving’s return to Dallas’ roster for the upcoming season is still up in the air.

He has admitted that he is uncertain about his participation in the 2026 playoffs.
