Kyrie Irving Shares Promising Update on ACL Rehab Journey

Recuperation following anterior cruciate ligament surgery is progressing “incredibly well,” according to Kyrie Irving, who recently updated TMZ Sports on his condition.

Irving provided reassurance and answered questions about his development while walking in New York City this week.

On March 3, while playing for the Sacramento Kings, the Dallas Mavericks guard tore his left ACL, ending his season and casting doubt on his availability for the 2025–26 season.

This comes after he announced in an Instagram Live in August that he had made it to the five-month mark of his rehabilitation. He said he was seeing “incremental growth” in his basketball workouts as he gradually increased his exercise level.

Prior to his injury, the nine-time All-Star was performing at a high level, appearing in 50 games last season and averaging 24.7 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.8 rebounds.

As an injury substitute, his outstanding performance resulted in his eleventh All-Star selection overall.

Irving signed a three-year contract with the Mavericks this summer, reiterating his dedication to the franchise despite the loss.

Despite the dramatic changes to the roster following Luka Doncic’s trade to the Lakers, the Mavericks still consider him an important leader.

Irving has already won a title with the Cavaliers in 2016, had 96 appearances in the playoffs, and averaged 23.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game throughout his career.

With a field goal percentage of 47.4 and a three-point field goal percentage of 39.4, he is still one of the most efficient guards in league history.
