Keane says Fernandes’s apology to Ten Hag from Manchester United was too little, too late.

Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, says he has apologised to Erik ten Hag, the manager who was fired. Roy Keane, the former captain, said this was “too little, too late.”

Due to a bad start to the Dutchman’s third season in charge, everyone at Old Trafford agreed on Monday to end his 29-month rule.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was in charge of Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Chelsea, has been chosen as Amorim’s replacement. He will start next Monday, after a week off.

Fernandes missed a penalty, but Moises Caicedo’s shot saved the game in the first Premier League game since Ten Hag was fired, and Fernandes’ captain apologised for his part in the firing.

Fernandes told Sky Sports, “We all know that when the manager leaves, everyone is.” “But only one pays because it’s easier to fire one manager than ten or fifteen players.”

“I talked to the manager and told him I was sorry if there was anything I could have done better for him and how sad I am that he’s leaving.”

“What stays with me is that he thinks I always gave everything and tried to help in any way I could.”

“I wasn’t scoring goals, which is a big problem for me and the team.”

“I feel a lot of responsibility for the fact that we aren’t scoring many goals because I usually score a lot of goals and set up a lot of others, but it wasn’t happening.”

That makes me sad, but I always did everything I could to help him, and the most important thing is that he knows that. That’s something I can keep in mind.

Speaking as a Sky Sports commentator, former United captain Keane didn’t pay much attention to what Fernandes said.

His words were “too little, too late.” If a player says, “Listen, sorry we let you down,” I won’t have much time or patience for them. There wasn’t enough time.

What you do on the football field is what people rate you on, and I don’t think Bruno has done enough in many of the games where he hasn’t led by example.

“Of course, hearing what Ten Hag has to say about it will be interesting, but you need to move on.

When a boss leaves, a lot of the players don’t really care.

“All they do is prepare for the next manager and take care of themselves.” It’s all part of the game, of course. Yeah, we know that players can be selfish.

“But as captain of Man United over the past year, I don’t think Bruno did enough to help the manager.” It’s not even close. With all the results, the proof is there.

While I’m not blaming Bruno alone, I do believe he failed to lead sufficiently during some of the acts.

“For what’s happened to the Man United manager with Ten Hag in the last week or two, I don’t think Bruno should be too proud of himself.” Ultimately, I think the players let down the boss.
