Just In: While sending a clear word to INEOS, Ruben Amorim completes Man United’s first major task.

The next game for Manchester United is this weekend, and it will be Ruben Amorim’s first game as manager of the team.

Ipswich Town, who were just promoted, will play the Reds at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon (4:30pm kick-off). They ended Ruud van Nistelrooy’s temporary time as manager on a high note by beating Leicester City 3-0 before the break. They will want to repeat that success.

Amorim held his first press meeting since joining the club on Friday, before the game. He talked to outside reporters for the first time since leaving Sporting CP, and there was a lot to talk about.

Amorim says bad things about United players

During his pre-game news conference, United head coach Amorim told the players that they need to improve in two areas for the rest of the season. His new boss didn’t hold back what he thought.

“I think if you want to speak about the team, the way we play, I think we lose the ball too often and we have to keep the ball,” he stated. “We need to get better at running back. That should be clear to everyone.

“And we need to pay close attention to the little things. There are times when we want to make a lot of big changes. It’s probably the little things, and this is why we’re here: to make the little things better. That’s how we see football: play as a team and understand the game in a certain way. I’m sure I can help these people a lot with little things.

MEN Sport says: It’s good that Amorim has already seen what United needs to work on. These are the areas that have been criticized so far this season. Both of these things will need to get better for the new boss to make a big difference in how the team works together and hopefully get results.

He’s brave to speak his mind about the team, which I like. The players should respect him for that because he helps them get better all season.

Decision by INEOS slammed

Amorim has also said that it was wrong to let Marcus Rashford and Casemiro fly to the U.S. on their days off. He gave the impression that the rules would change while he was in charge.

“I think the main question here is that us, as a club, have to set the standards and have to manage that,” he said. “I decide if they can have five days off, three days off, or three days to rest. You can’t fly.”

“This is something that us, as a club, have to decide.” Gary Neville asked Amorim if he would have stopped Rashford and Casemiro from going to the U.S. He replied, “For me? Without a doubt.

“This is not part of their job. United told them they could take five days off and fly anywhere, since no one at the club says you can’t.

As with the demands he has made on the players, MEN Sport says this could be Amorim’s way of making the team follow his lead. I agree with the reasoning behind the idea that players shouldn’t be able to take long-haul trips when they only have a few days off.

Some players may have to fly long distances while on international service, but it shouldn’t have to be done if it’s not necessary. If you’re traveling, jet lag might affect how well you do in practice and games.

It’s good that Amorim has taken a stand and isn’t afraid to talk about it in a field where small things can make a big difference.
