The last few weeks have been rough for former Texas Longhorns trainers all over the country. On Tuesday, another one was fired.

Last week, Stan Drayton was fired by Temple and Tom Herman was fired by FAU. On Tuesday, famous Texas coach Mack Brown was fired by North Carolina.

The news came from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, just one day after Brown told the reporters that he was going to be back for the 2025 season. Even though Brown is being fired, Thamel said that he will be leading the team’s last game of the regular season against North Carolina State.

“Here’s some details on Brown’s firing from the school,” said Thamel. The last game of the season is this Saturday against NC State, and Brown will be the coach. No choice has been made about whether Brown will be the coach for a Bowl game.

Brown wasn’t coaching for a few years after leaving Texas at the end of the 2013 season before being signed by North Carolina in 2019. Before his six years with the Tar Heels, he was the team’s head coach from 1988 to 1997.

His first time at North Carolina was much better; he had three 10-win seasons and three bowl wins. This time, he only had one season with more than eight wins and only one bowl win in five tries.

Brown is the only coach in college football history to have won 100 games at two different schools. He has a 288-154-1 record overall.
