Just In: To celebrate Eldora Speedway, Tony Stewart will give away a $1 million prize.

Wednesday at 7:30 a.m., Tony Stewart went to bed after staying up all night at Eldora Speedway.

Stewart wants to make sure that his track in Rossburg, Ohio, is in great shape for the return of The Eldora Million on Thursday night, when he gives away $1 million.

“I’m just thrashing,” Stewart told The Associated Press over the phone on Wednesday afternoon, with the sounds of trucks and tractors moving around him in the background. Because of bad weather, we’ve only had two events so far this year. We need to get the track ready to give this money away.

A preliminary count of about 130 cars was expected for the night. The winner of the Thursday night race will get a huge $1,002,022 — the second-biggest purse in motorsports, after the Indianapolis 500.

When Marcus Ericsson won the Indy 500 on May 29, he got $3.1 million of the record-breaking $16 million prize. Ryan Blaney won $1 million when he won NASCAR’s All-Star race the week before.

Late model dirt track races called the Eldora Million take place on a half-mile clay racetrack in western Ohio. The race has 101 laps. Every mile, Stewart’s race will pay more than any other race in the US.

This means that the winner will make more than three times as much per mile as Ericsson, who made $6,200 per mile. The mile that Blaney ran won him $5,333.33.

An earlier $1 million payout happened at Eldora in 2001, when the late Earl Baltes owned the track. The $1 million was given to Donnie Moran.

Since 2004 when he bought the track, Stewart has tried to match the prize.

Stuart Stewart said, “From the day I bought Eldora, I said that we wanted to make Earl proud by continuing to push the limits of race promotion.” To honour their memory, I can only suggest bringing back The Eldora Million for all of our long-time drivers and fans, as well as for a whole new group who have only heard about it.

The next two nights are The Eldora Million and then The Dirt Late Model Dream. With over $1.9 million in prize money, the four nights of racing (if the weather cooperates) have made it one of the biggest open competition events in the history of motorsports.

Moran recently talked about the money he won in the only other Eldora Million, which is how he got the nickname “Million Dollar Man.” For twenty years, that was the biggest prize for a late model race on a dirt track. It won’t be broken until Stewart names a winner Thursday night.

The year 2001 saw Moran bring a new car and engine to Eldora. He also got his sister and brother-in-law to come out of retirement to help his team. He gave them a choice: they could get paid or take a cut of his winnings. They took the winnings.

But Moran remembers most that his wife didn’t listen to her doctor when he told her to stay home because of problems she was having while she was pregnant with their fifth child. She had to go anyway.

“Grabbing her a hug on the podium was when I knew I had really won.” “That magical moment will stay with me forever,” Moran said. “She probably watched most of the race from the ground, but she did fine.” After a few days, we had our daughter Savannah. Currently, she is one of Tony Stewart’s prize girls at Eldora.

Concerning the cash?

Muran said, “It kept me racing for a few years and paid some bills.” “It really helped that my team pretty much paid for itself.”

Stewart is re-running The Eldora Million in the hopes that it will help another amateur racer. Last week, he had to buy two new tractors. He also asked another track to send workers to help him prepare the Eldora surface, which had been wet all week.

“One day we want to do the Million again, and we’re doing everything we can to make that happen,” Stewart said. “I feel like I’m living, breathing, and this racecourse right now. I hope Earl is proud of how we’re carrying on his work.”
