Another solo win for Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) in the shorter Beking charity criterium in Monaco on Sunday. He was wearing his new world champion jersey. Second place went to Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) and third place went to Michael Matthews (Jayco AlUla).

“Beking is a great event, and I’m glad to be a part of it every year.” The race was still fun, even though the weather wasn’t great. We don’t race in Monaco very often, so I’m really happy to have won here. Pogačar said in a news release about the event after the race, “It’s always a special experience.”

The pro criterium had to be cut short to just 20 laps because of bad weather and rain, but Pogačar’s former partner Matteo Trentin said that didn’t change the spirit of the charity event.

“The weather this year really put us to the test, but my coworkers and the sponsors didn’t leave us alone.” We’re so thankful for their help. “We chose to cut down on the number of laps, but not on the show,” Trentin said.

“We all got together this morning and agreed that the race should go ahead.” It was great; the mood will stay with you forever. We did it once more. “I feel good.”

The charity event, which was held on a track along the coast of Monaco for the fourth time, included a pro-am charity race with 15 teams made up of pros, ambassadors, and amateurs. The race took place on the same track as the pro criterium later that same day. There was also a ride for kids with pros and other things for kids to do.

Later, in 2023, the non-profit Beking Association was created. Its goal is to raise money to put on activities and events that support and popularise sports, education, green transportation, and environmental protection. The money that is raised is then given to other foundations and groups whose goals and values are similar to their own.

I’m thankful that Matteo Trentin and the rest of the team are still putting together this event for such a good cause. “It’s moving to see so many people out in the rain to show their support and help get the word out,” Pogačar said.

“Every year the event gets bigger, and it’s great to see so many kids there.” This is very important for the sport’s future, for the long-term, and for the morals that Beking stands for. I’ve also seen more people riding bikes, which is a good sign that things are going well.
