Just In: More history is made by Kentucky after their big win over Jackson State.
Today is another big day for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats’ offense.
After beating Jackson State 108–59, Kentucky has now scored 100 points three times in five games. The Wildcats almost made it four times in five games. In their 97–68 win over Lipscomb on Tuesday, they were only three points short.
It turned out that Kentucky made history this week by scoring 97 points or more twice. That makes it four times this season that they’ve done that.
A 77-72 win on neutral court over a top-10 Duke team makes this college basketball attack one of the hottest in the country.
This week, Kentucky will face Western Kentucky, a team ranked 129th in KenPom efficiency but with the 72nd-best defense in the country. That will be a bigger test. Both of these scores are the second-best that Kentucky has seen in its first six games. Duke is named the best, coming in at fourth overall and third in defensive efficiency.
The next week’s games against Clemson (38th overall and 48th in defense) and Gonzaga (second overall and 18th in defense) will tell us if the Duke game was an outlier or if it was the best this team can do.
The BBN hasn’t made it to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament since 2019 and hopes to do so this year.
